Fire Control Radar - EAGLE
Saab has more than 20 years experience of working with Ka-band radar technology. EAGLE MkI has been in full-scale production for both army and naval applications around the world. A new generation, EAGLE MkII, has been developed for the BAMSE missile system using state-of-the-art technology.
The EAGLE radar sensor is a versatile, fully coherent, pulse-Doppler radar which sets a new standard for tracking radars in fire control systems. The radar operates at Ka-band with twist Cassegrain monopulse antenna, TWT transmitter, multi-frequency synthesiser and computerised signal processing. In order to cope with the threat environment of modern warfare, EAGLE is designed as a whispering radar with very low peak output power.
Fundamental for giving the radar its outstanding performance is the use of a complex transmission waveform where pulse-to-pulse frequency agility with very high pulse repetition frequency is used simultaneously with clutter filtering.
EAGLE is designed for use in land-based and naval defence systems either as a single radar or integrated with other radars. The low weight and small dimensions make it very easy to integrate EAGLE into a variety of air defence systems.
