General Operator Workstation
The General Operator Workstation (GOW) is a concept for realization of operator’s workplaces in applications where the operator’s interaction represents a significant workload. The GOW is primarily intended for systems operational in an office-like environment, as for example ground-based military and civilian Command and Control systems.
The GOW concept was originally developed by Saab for the Command and Control system ‘C2STRIC’ and the simulator ‘Strics’ that has been delivered to the Swedish Air Force.

One of the most important requirements for the GOW concept was to provide a workplace with a large, flat and horizontal desktop surface where the keyboard, mouse and other input/output devices can be placed wherever necessary to achieve the operator’s individual needs. Another important requirement was that the desktop surface should be height-adjustable to adapt the workplace for male or female operators of varying heights and to provide them with the option of a seated or standing working position.

Operator Console
The GOW consists of a mechanical framework – the “Operator Console” – and the display, input and communication devices that the operator needs for man-machine interaction (MMI).

The Operator Console is the basic foundation of the GOW and consists mainly of a framework with a height-adjustable desktop, a kit for mounting of the equipment in the GOW, and a cable set for the internal and external connections.
