Automated Weather Observation System - AWOS
AWOS provides real-time weather information to enhance the safety and efficiency of any air traffic operation. Data from the weather sensors is automatically acquired and processed and can then be distributed in a variety of formats. AWOS is highly cost-effective, and it allows you to keep your existing meterological sensors.
Real weather, in real-time
AWOS collects data from various meteorological sensors which it then validates, processes and disseminates. It automatically creates the appropriate messages and reports and dispatches them over AFTN, GTS or internal networks.
AWOS can also be used as a semi-automatic weather observation system, allowing manual alteration of sensor data and messages. All reports and data are stored for later reference, statistics or investigations.
Reports in a multitude of formats
The system can handle many different kinds of information, such as METAR/SPECI, SYNOP, MET REPORT/SPECIAL, SNOWTAM, CLIMATE and ATIS/DATIS.
